AJI LAL DEV

  1. The symbol of honesty and simplicity is what I can say about Aji my roomie @B3. I would miss the goodies esp. the awesome pickles he used to get from home after vacation. People say patience is a virtue but he is the best mix of patience and persistence. And hey hopefully we did learn from each other :) …but the memories of B3 would live on.

  2. Inquisitive and intelligent person with pool of knowledge, a person who can tell you the chemical formula of anything present on this earth. You can ask him any question and he will come out with the answer somehow and that too with full research. 4 Ps which define him are politeness, patience and perseverance and pool of knowledge. Even after calling him Aaaajiii, enacting ‘Land of Lungi’ song, teasing him and taking his case on small-small things, he never got irritated. I can never forget his dialogue ‘ Sahi mein agar tum ladka hoti, to tumhara bahut GPL hota.’ A person who always mingled up genders and tenses while speaking in hindi, but then also even after being a mallu, he speaks awesome hindi in his different style. A person who loves eating chicken and coconut, loves travelling so much that he can even go alone and have chicken :). A nice friend who keeps imparting knowledge and always asking me to study finance. Wish you all the very best in life. :)

  3. Aji Lal: The Darwin's Theory of Evolution seems to have exceptions , one that I could easily witness is in form of this guy. No canny form of HUman side, no shrewdness or any form of evil that would belittle the Humane character. A perfect epitome of simplicity and jollyness. He reveres for only 2 things in this world that have been ever created by the humans and its the United Beverages and KFC. God knows how he would have managed his existence in absence of these two. Apart from the sensual taste buds he has great attachment towards any sort of book he would get a chance to lay his hands upon.
Almost all the books doled out by the PGP to Aji, have been crunched down by him and he can recall any concept at drop off a hat.Because of repetitive visits being made at the Wikipedia site, the creators of Wikipedia are very soon about to consider him as the replacement of their main server machine.
He is a curious case of Insomnia and medical genius should definitely consider him for the advance treatment of this disorder for he is unable to sleep in even after stuffing himself with 4 full size chickens and having 2 kgs of Jalebis. Academically, he has been an outperformer all through his student life and is yet to learn the evils of this world for he has a heart so pure and full of simplicity that definitely it would take a lot for anyone to hurt his sentiments, even the slightest.

  5. Aji is the simplest, humblest and level- headed person of the batch. He takes studies seriously. So passionate he is about maintaining his repertoire of knowledge that the moment he comes to know of an alien topic (one of those rare instances) he’ll research the topic thoroughly. His love for food makes him visit PB or even Guwahati in search of food he can indulge in.
This connoisseur of food brings with him some really awesome delicacies from ‘the Land of Lungi’ which are hard to find in Shillong. Loves to spend some time travelling alone but loves being with his friends even more. Always ready to face each challenge with a smile :)
Good luck for the future Aji !

  6. Who is going to be the most talented and handsome actor in ‘Mallu’ (Malayalam) film industry? Who is Kaustubh’s self-proclaimed father? Who is the most intelligent guy of our batch? Who is the most humble guy in our batch? Who is the guy with great love for old hindi horror movies like ‘Aakhri Chick’ (originally “Aakhri Cheekh”)? ……….There are millions of questions like these….But only one answer……..Aji Lal….Aji Lal…..and…..Aji Lal…in short our “Talented Aji Lal”. His one liners, like….”Kostuuuubhhhh uth jaa”……”Ye Ladka bigad gaya hai”………”Iska kya matlab hai”…..”main chicken kha ke aaya”, are unforgettable.

Well, all of us know about his intelligence and knowledge but hardly anyone knows about three LOVES of his life. CHICKEN, CHEMISTRY and “………..” (Cost ko poocho). And yes let me tell you about his favourite song i.e. “Land of Lungi”. He loves this song, dances “almost” every time he hears this song till he faints.

Fun apart, Aji is a guy with insatiable appetite for knowledge and perfection….dude u r truly a genius….. Talk to him, on any topic, for some time and you will know his “Scientist” side.

Wish you all the very best in whatever you do in life and keep in touch…….

  7. Hey Aji...
I have been source of lots of 'cultural shocks' to you for which I'm really sorry :P But I truly admire your composure and serenity :)
Keep smiling humesha :) Miss me :P

  8. Besides being the most composed guy of our batch, he has done two things here... earning an IIM degree and mentoring someone like a father. Don't know if that so-called son has learnt something from him or has taught him back; the beholder of an ever charming smile to say "OK!! There's always a next time".

Hope the future brings to you lots of precious gems in your career and life.

    Stay in touch :)

    Nilanjan.

  9. The four most important things in Aji (Chedi’s) life
    1. Chicken (KFC)
    2. Spirits :P
    3. Case Studies…..be it fin, marketing, IT, HR etc..
The fourth..I am not allowed to disclose on Public forum: D

He is my self-proclaimed father at IIM Shillong and has been really supportive and helpful to me during the two years at IIM Shillong. An extremely dedicated guy…he loves studying for exams and reading case studies (don’t know how he manages this even after 3 years of work experience: P). In true sense, he can also be considered as an alternate to Wikipedia. He loves travelling a lot and always insists that we should also travel along. A true foodie….not a single day must have passed where he has not dreamt of Chicken. Always insist me and Maalik (Ashutosh) to study, but guess all his attempts were in vain.

An extremely talented and even more down to earth person. His Hindi accent is very funny especially when he says “Thik hai” and “Thoda Thoda”. One thing that we can learn from him is extreme dedication to whatever work he does. He will be a true asset to whichever organisation he is part of. Yaar you definitely deserve more than an IIM. Wish you all the very best for your future. Enjoy J

  13. One of the gems in our batch. Aji is a very sincere and a hard-working person. And more than that, he is always out to help his friends. Never seen him getting angry at the group tasks. Wish him all the very best for his future endeavours.

  14. Aji Lal… undoubtedly the most sincere person of our study group, I can say! Hardworking, simple, patient, composed, and responsible… He was the one who used to initiate all the discussions, meetings and work allocations in the first term… It would have been really difficult to complete all the group tasks without his direction… He’s really enthusiastic about learning everything related to any subject… and also ensures he has his share of fun! It was great working in a group with you… Your sincerity will take you places… Good luck for the journey ahead! :)

  15. Aji is the simplest and humblest person in the batch. He is very hardworking and sincere. Stays calm and composed always.
Not to forget, he managed to survive the 'cultural shocks' given by his very dear roommate Partha. Kudos to you for adjusting with roomies like him. :)

    Best wishes for the future!!

  16. Aji- teh most cool and calm person i have ever met...But he also has great knowledge and commitment towards studies. I have learnt a lot of things from this guy throughout the two years..Apart from all the academics he has also gave a lot of gyaan on life and people which has been a great motivation for me. He is one of those people who never get offended.

He really likes to travel and is a foodie (especially the love for chicken as pointed out by many). But more then that you have been a great friend throughout.

Thanks a lot for being such an awesome friend

  18. One of the coolest in temperament among the Super 93. This is guy is best known as "Kaustubh ka baap" among his small and smiling family. Sweet si hindi and cute si smile always..He still use to hide things like how much he has studied or stuffs which we used to do in junior schools..a very grown up person from intellect but a kid at heart..

    Wish u a successful life ahead..Be a child at heart always..Keep Smiling :)

  19. One of the most sincere and hardworking person that I met on this campus. “ Group C “ without u would have been difficult manage. I was always sure that we would not miss on any group tasks with u there. I still remember how u used to initiate all discussions and assignments.
He is a very simple and down to earth person. Your dedication will lead u to great successes in life!!!!!!All the Best Aji!!!!!!!!

  20. Aji is one of the most soft-spoken guys on the campus. He is really good natured and has a very soft side to him.

There are quite a few things that we would disagree on. He would ask me to take a safe route and not take unncessary risks, that I would not really find interesting. But, I always found that we agreed on many other topics.

I have a feeling that he might have done well as a researcher, because he think deep and is intelligent. He also has that hardworking character needed for research.

Nevertheless, I wish my close friend great success in his future endeavours.

    @Aji: Do keep in touch.

  21. What a cool guy he is. We had a great time during the summer internship at Delhi. He’s very knowledgeable and remembers almost everything that he has read. He’s a guy who is pure of heart and is willing to help anyone. A very patient guy with a great underlying sense of humour( as seen in how he chuckles good naturedly at Kaustubh’s constant rendering of “Land of Lungi”). All the best Aji, wish you success in whatever you do. Call me when you start a KFC franchise in your hometown..:P

  22. Aji is always ready to greet anyone with a smile and a nice conversation and I have been at the receiving end of both quite a few times. He has a very non-intrusive presence that puts anyone at ease and is a great travel companion – the trip from Guwahati to Shillong with him and PDN was one of the best that I’ve taken in that route. Apart from that, the few times we have talked in Delhi and in the mess have left nothing but pleasant memories Aji. All the best for your future :)

  23. Aji lal is a soft-spoken person from my god's own land - Kerala :) He's a sincere guy who works really hard on whatever he does - this dedication i know will take him places. Aji is a typical mallu - he drinks, has non-veg - exactly opposite to what i do :P He put up with Partha for a whole year and that requires a big _/\_ considering the PJ king that Partha is :D

We need to have an-all mallu outing once before we leave :)

Wish you have a great life ahead and hope to see you around :)

  24. "Kaustubh[knock]....Kaustubh[knock]" These are the words which i used to hear every morning before waking up. I never needed an alarm because I knew that Aji bhai would wake Kaustubh up and in the process would indirectly wake me up.

The first thing that one would note in Aji bhai is his very grammatical diction of hindi language. Second is his sincerity (imagine he could read a 16 page case on sustainability). Third his simplicity. And fourth is his charm which never fails to astonish you!!!

Have a great life Aji bhai...

  25. Aji Lal Dev, my senior from my graduation college, first thing to be noticed about him is his soft voice, down to earth behavior & an innocent smile (sometimes wicked, if it's for Maalik :P). A very sincere, studious, intelligent participant to say the least, he is the one who prepares for all the subjects religiously be it Operations, Finance, Strategy, SEEB or IT, IT se yaad aaya, he is a dedicated member of Systems club (for the uninformed, it is some club in IIMS, that is more famous for changing its name every now & then rather than any worthwhile work, To the best of my knowledge, the last official name was BiteSys or something like that :P)
Despite all his (serious) attempts of leg pulling, he is overshadowed by the awe of his more illustrious son- Kaustubh V Rawool, I have my serious doubts that how can a father & son be so distinct from each other, father being so simple and reticent, and son, well! check his page.
His love (& passion) for Chicken and the products of my to-be employers is unprecedented. Give him these two things & he will be content, doesn't desire anything else in life.
That said, he is very considerate fellow, ready to help out anyone. His naivety doesn't allow to believe his 3 years of work experience, such a simple guy he is.
All the very best for your future and keep in touch with your junior, though I wonder at times, how our relation would have been if you weren't my senior ;)

  26. A very sweet person.. always smiling.. and one of those rare persons, who does everything with utter perfection, leaving no room for any mistakes.

Hats off to his awesome knowledge in Pharmacy! Only he can go as deeper as to remember by heart the molecular structures, which I am sure, most of us, would have been left scratching our head over, during those chemistry sessions..

A very soft-spoken, polite and so down to earth person whom I look up to, with great admiration…

Wishing you all the very best for your future!!
