A wizard in the domain of his choice (which happens to be Finance), Rajat is a bright, hardworking, sincere guy. I got to interact with him a lot during our internship at UTI and always enjoyed the discussions on financial analysis that we used to have while waiting for our respective buses.
His great knowledge became apparent especially when we were doing our SAPM project, where I learned what little I did of some vicious little models (for the knowledgeable they are called ARIMA and ANN). He has a great thirst for all knowledge that is at hand or is required and he goes to the depth of the same.
He is doubtlessly the smartest guy I have met and it has been a pleasure to know him.
All the best for your future, Rajat. Keep in touch. :)
The complete package. Mr. IIT, IIM. Mr. Niveshak. The Editor. I can think of thousand adjectives and yet would fall short of describing this gem of a character. This silent boy from Ansys is one of the most talented and knowledgeable finance guys in the batch who is perhaps a repository on the fundas on finance. He is also one of the most patient characters I have met who stood through our group’s antics and yet ensured quality work at the end. He has changed a lot in the course of 2 years though and now doesn’t frown when the group members submit “inspired” assignments. I still remember him studying 3 hours for his one slide during marketing I presentation on the SWOT analysis. That showed a deep commitment to the work he was associated with ( though it was funny as hell at that point :) )He never misses a class and actually doesn’t himself remember missing a class except when he had to go for the prestigious GIRC competition. I have learnt a lot from him about professionalism in work as well as being accepting about other’s behaviour. Best of luck My captain for your future and keep in touch ( I will be needing a photograph to prove that I worked with you when you get to those high posts on the Wall St. ) Cheers!
The fin whiz of our batch… N luckily my group.. the strong pillar of our group who would single-handedly finish all the finance and accounts project.. he is one person who has always inspired to go beyond my limits.. a perfectionist who has spent more time than the rest of us combined while making sure our group work is the rite standard… a sincere and silent guy who has changed a lot over the course of two years thanks to our group :P.. it was only during GIRC that I really understood his commitment towards work.. a great guy who I am sure will go places.. All the best Rajat :) :)
Rajat Sethia is one of my best friends in the last two years and more so because we were neighbours, go to dinner together and also our famous after-dinner walks :P. Very sincere and talented guy (Believe me his general knowledge is also awesome). Every now and then whenever I face some problem he was there to give a helping hand (Needless to say he was our GURU as far as acads is concerned). He is very ambitious and works hard to achieve that.
Bhai, all the best for everything and I just hope you achieve your goals pretty soon!!!
Only IITian in our batch and I am honored to have him as my wing mate during 2yr stay @IIMS. He is an introvert by nature and only his close friends know about his sense of humor and mischievousness. His calculation is fast enough to earn him praise from all profs.
Though everyone in our batch knows about his finance knowledge but i am among few lucky ones who has been showered with his knowledge's treasure during GIRC. It is not only I learnt from him but he also learnt from me 'कैसे लिफाफा देखकर ख़त का मजुमन भांपा जाता है'.
I wish you all the best for all your future endeavors and be in touch buddy...
Editor sahab, you have been great all throughout. you are one of the true geniuses one would ever meet. I wish we had more IITians in our batch. your understanding of Finance and accounts has always stumbled me. though a little shy, who would never want a gpl, be it anyone's birthday. Your talent and hardwork can take you places man!! It's been a pleasure knowing you all throughout!! Keep rocking!!
A true genius and gem of a person.Very dedicated and committed to any assignment that he takes up.Contrary to popular notion about brilliant guys he is not at all boring and loves to crack jokes.High on domain knowledge, industry knowledge and analytical skills.Ever helpful and passionate in Fin Club or any group activities for that matter.
He is sure to climb heights in career and i am truly honored to have him as a friend.
Rajat Sethia - one of the most ambitious guys of our batch and he truly justifies his IIT-IIM tag through his talent and brilliance in any field especially Finance. He can be very funny and when it comes to Tau of PGP10, he can be brutal in pulling his leg. Rajat is a jolly fellow and his down-to-earth nature is praised by everyone in the batch. He is the most respected guy in our batch and everyone inspires to be like him. The Finance club and Niveshak has achieved newer heights under his editorship and through his hardwork and sheer dedication towards academics, he is the most learned Finance guy of our batch. He can safely be given the nickname of 'Fin God' in our batch. He is very fast in work and is mostly found helping other people. I know Rajat would surely a big shot in future and we would all love to see this guy becoming one of the CFOs of a big group. Rajat- Best of Luck for your future and wish you always get the best in your life.
He is the only person for whom I can say he deserves all the success in life. He should get everything in life which he aspire for. Very very intelligent, down to earth, calm, sane are the adjectives which properly describe him.
I will never forget the day when you were shouting something in Sandeep's room and i could hear that from Khandu's room as well. Only few people know about this Rajat and I am lucky to be one of them :)
May God give you all the success in life...Stay connected...
This guy has multiple accolades in his name- Fin Champ, Editor Saheb, GIRC Winner, and many more to come ahead. His sincerity and perfection is reflected in his works. Although he has started speking while into the 2nd year of college, you could rarely hear a word from him in the 1st year. Very much laconic and yet deep-thinker. Wishing u great success ahead mate. Keep smiling always :)
Sethia is the final authority when it comes to finance in the college and his knowledge from other domains is also remarkable. But beyond this hardworking, sincere, intelligent man there is fun loving and mischievous side to him, he comes with the funniest of line in a conversation and on days keep singing some part of a song in his own style...
He should be taken as the leading indicator when it comes to investing in stocks, whenever he buys a stock it’s time for others to sell as the stock prices will invariably nosedive in the near future and vice-versa..: P
He has been a dear friend and I have learnt a lot from him...he is destined to go places and achieve great heights...keep rocking and stay connected
I shared my train compartment with Sethia while coming for the first time to IIM S. I did not know what all kind of people were coming to IIMS. So here was the first one who was the Topper at IIT Kanpur and had a research scholar offer from one the greatest colleges in the world and here he was in front of me going to the same place for the next two years. I thought that there would be many such people waiting in Shillong. I was very apprehensive to talk to him. But as we talked I realized what a gem of a person he is.
I had the privilege to share both the Club as well as the Committee with him. Niveshak and Finance club were really close to his heart and he gave his everything to it. Whatever be the issue he had an answer. I do not need to mention his discipline and dedication in studies.
Favorite among all Fin profs Sethia has been a savior. The E&B crash course in RN 5 in which he covered 20 sessions in 30 mins and everyone was equipped with enough knowledge to pass the exam.
It was great to be with you. You broke my myth that “All IITians are geeks and not good friends”.
A person who seems like a straight forward, simple, meek guy will turn into a kamina, leg-pulling types creature once you start knowing him more and more. A person involved with his passions and dedicated to it. A champion Fin enthusiast and is a master at it. Learnt a lot from you!
A genius who knows the answer of all possible question. You go to him with any doubt or clarification and would never return empty handed. Had a privilege to be in the same team during our IRC and I must admit, he is a perfectionalist who carries out even the minutest task with utmost sincerity. Apart from all these, Rajat is also a very simple and down to earth person.
There was a error, I studied in C++ called as "type mismatch error". In real life, I think Rajat is the best example for that error, this guy deserved much better than this place, probably the sister institution in his hometown would have done better justice to his talent. The only IITian of our batch, 'ph'in wizard, probably the only one who commands respect just on the basis of his acumen & knowledge. Much has been said about him in the earlier posts. But one peculiar thing about him is missing that he may also not be too proud off. It is the fact that 'he is the only one whose brain runs in perfect sync with THE NPT' :P :P All the best Rajat (if required :P)for reaching the peaks you are destined for :)
Fin God, an achiever throughout his life, IITian (a rare breed to spot here), Editor of Niveshak, in command of GIRC team. There is hardly anything about his area of interest that he does not know. He speaks less but whenever he does people listen to him in awe and reverence. He commands respect from the batch for his diligence which is unmatched for, ready to help people with studies and assignments. His simplicity and modesty makes his the most approachable for help and guidance (many a souls have sailed due to that). Having seen him during the fin electives I can say that this guy means strict business, is rational and is definitely going places. It was a pleasure having known you Rajat! Wish you all the best for the life ahead! :)
However, I would write about the funnier side only. The biggest prankster who can bring you down to ground any moment with his witty dialogues. I don’t know how many people in the batch would have seen this sight of Rajat. He is an avid lover of the mess food and makes sure that he never misses criticizing the hostel comm. for the food and the obvious choice for this is Salil Bhai. His sincere efforts towards DP were an inspiration and the foundation of my efforts for DP.
He loves to murmur song – which you can hear throughout the day and is known as song of the day in closer circles. His favourite being PYAR PYAR PYAR…Apart from this he has got decent TT skills and good smashes in his arsenal. However, he is still trying to beat me in TT matches barring a few instances. There are much more instances to count off but will make this piece very lengthy. Lastly, just for the record I would like to mention that he is very fond of one person in our batch and I was made the scapegoat for answering to the queries of that person on 16th December, 2011…:P
Sethia – Wish you all the very best for the future ahead…
Sethia: The IIT-IIM Guy of PGP10. He broke all the wrong notions I had about IIT’ians (Courtesy: Chetan Bhagat). This genius is an extremely humble guy and he is very helpful. Anytime you walk into his room and ask for help, he ll never say no. Extremely knowledgeable and seems to have a clear idea when he does things. You can hardly ever see him flustered or confused. He is ever so cool and composed. He is extremely quiet, but, at the same time a great company to have; a rare combination. I hope you really achieve something big, Sethia and show the outside world that IIT’ians can join IIMS and still be as successful :) Keep in touch!
A true fin enthusiast who has whole heartedly followed his passion at IIM Shillong. Has some great grasping power and can easily understand any new concepts or topics. An IIT – IIM is enough to describe this great talent who is going to reach even greater heights one day.
Has completely changed in the second year. Is more fun loving and jovial now. It was great knowing and studying with you for this 2 years. With Mumbai around for both of us , hoping for some more bonding and fun times ahead.
Rajat Sethia ! This name needs no introduction among the Finance enthusiasts at IIM Shillong. This guy has already earned the much sought after valuable degrees. Already a cliche', he has his undergrads from the Mecca of Engineering ! , IIT Kanpur. Its a dream of millions to be an Engineer from IIT Kanpur and I guess I am one of those who know how hard it is to gain Admission in this esteemed institute. All his knowledge still has got him so close to the ground and while talking to Rajat, one can't find even an iota of High-Headedness. Even during the PGP course he earned so much command over the Fin subjects that the Proffs seem to learn from him , during every lecture. His mannerism is really decent and hardly has one seen him, arguing over anything. I have always seen him smiling and helping his colleagues. Really hard-working, gentle and full of enthusiasm. Wish you all the Best Dude! Sethia just remember that more the fame you shall earn, more shall be branding of the name 'Kanpur' through you and here lies some personal interest of mine. :)
Sethia - a real talented fellow who is not only sincere and hardworking but also down-to-earth by nature :) You can go to him with any doubts and he would be more than happy to clear your doubts any time :) He hardly missed a class and was a tough competition to me in attending classes - he even attended all EB classes :D
I'm sure you will make all of us proud very soon and wish you have a great life ahead :) Hope to see you around :)
My fellow group mate, in fact our group leader.. the one who saved us by doing all Fin assignments :) The striking think about this guy is that he is undoubtedly the best fin wizard of IIM S, industrious, favorite of all fin profs, yet in spite of all these, he is a very down to earth person..
Stay the way you are :) No doubt you are going to attain great heights :)
Wish you all the very best for your journey ahead!!!
