MAYUR KUMAR LAKHMANI

25 comments:

  1. Mayur is one of the most outgoing and friendly guys in our batch. One of the first people I spoke to on this campus, I will always remember the conversation we had on the Cherrapunji trip! He is sincere in all the extra-curricular work he takes up (can’t speak much for his academic projects, as I have never worked with him) and is a great people’s person. He makes friends with ease, and has qualities that will take him to great heights in life. I have many memories with this ‘Stud’- many meetings, heated discussions and cooling-down sessions. Wish you all the best in life!

  2. This guy for sure is going a long way in life and career. The best thing about him is that he is fearless, master at building relationships and loves taking initiatives. I still remember how he single handedly organized the most memorable cherrapunji trip for the entire batch. Tell him anything and he will readily say ‘ho jaega’ :) Kanpuriya & VIT tashan is written all over whatever he does and no wonder he is so popular amongst the ladies!! Above all a person who is yaaron ka yaar…he will always be there for a friend…enjoy life and be happy :)

  3. A real go-getter. Nothing stands as impossible in front of him. His unlimited reserves of energy always overflows when you talk to him. He needs just 5 minutes to win anybody’s heart. He has great maturity in all his conduct probably much more than people who have seen the world more than him.

You just need to approach this guy for help and then its done. A StudC member, a Bday Comm member (don’t remember how many Bday invites he has made). His immense belief and passion in HR not only inspired others to pursue the stream but also strengthened its roots in the campus.

His skills in organizing and managing skills is exceptional (the account is probably too long to fit in here). He is one of your friends who would be ready to stand by you at all times. He is such a magical character who would always reflect love and care irrespective of whatever he receives.

    Yes, you are Ashwamedha.

  4. Mayur Kumar Lakhmani aka MKL - the guy whose heart always beats for girls. He is truly a man who can be proclaimed as the Chocolate Boy of PGP10. MKL's biggest strengths are his leadership quality in organising any event. Be it the Golf, be it the Cherrapunji travel (which gave him a nickname of Mayur Travels) he is best in giving the best creative inputs. He has excellent networking skills and can make friends with anyone anywhere. His friendship with Dhar Bhai has helped almost the entire batch during travel. This guy is smart and i would say the best was at show when the legendary Footsteps was going on. His acting skills are one of a proffesional and he can be brutal when he has to showcase his skills. A core HR guy and you can tell that this guy knows how to handle people.

Coming to his loveable heart, he can be over-friendly with many girls and can easily handle everyone. I would say in this Kalyug, he is our Krishna with many Gopiyaas. He is loud and this guy can be vocal when the time comes. He won't lose his temper whatever the situation is and would control me especially when i lose my temper frequently. This guy is a strategist by mind and a leader by heart, he is the perfect Ashwa Material and he showed us his qualities by winning the Biggest Leadership event. I feel lucky to have such a helping and understanding friend like Mayur and I thank him when he came and used to advise me on how to improve and how to change. This guy made me change from a 'not-so-perfect guy' to a 'good guy'(atleast). I wish Mayur a successful career ahead and let him achieve the best in whatever he does.

  5. There are some things which can't be explained by few words and writing something about Mayur (and few others) are one of them. However, let me give a try. So, here I go:
Mayur is a person, a body of mass who has enormous amount of energy. And the best things about is that, he gives his best when the situation is most adverse (I agree with Somjeet reg Footsteps 2011 finale). I can still
remember the time when Mayur was not keeping good health and he was planning to go home (Lucknow and not Kanpur) just a month before golf cup season 4. I felt like my hands had been tied and was quite apprehensive on how things would go. Luckily, his health improved and he stayed in campus only. Mayur also provided the necessary aggression before the admin and other partners (esp TOI) during the event.
If I am not wrong, I think I got introduced to Mayur during our initial sustainability course which became stronger during the Cherapunji trip. I was amazed by his planning and organizing skills; be it making arrangements for buses, snacks, water etc. His farsightedness can be understood from the fact that when all of us were busy sight seeing, he has the sense to call PGP09 Hostel comm members and inform them that all of our batch would not be possible to make it by snacks time and hence reduce the number accordingly.
He has always been a go-getter and loves challenges. We both have participated in couple of competitions with team name 5/0 (symbolizing number of years of our work experience) and I must say that Mayur has good
analytic skills (apart from core HR knowledge which he had taught to lot of us including me) which many people were never aware before Ashwamedha happened. His thought process is very clear and knows what he wants in life. Again in Stud C meetings, he was the one with a practical approach as compared to me (idealistic here too).
We have shared a lot of good time in college and I will defintely cherish them throughtout my life. In one line if I can say, Mayur is the person which I tried to become (and failed to a large extent) throughout my prime. He is the force from where I draw inspiration.
Wishing you all the best. God bless you.

  6. Mayur is a real gem of a person. My interaction with him was very limited in the first year and it was only in second year that I came to know him closely and realized how special and unique is he in his own way. He is a very friendly person and his leadership skills are amazing.

He was the first person to take responsibility for any class trips and he did it very well. If he takes any task be rest assured that the work will be done. He is a wonderful next door neighbor and whenever you feel hungry just go to his room and u can help urself :) . The best part of his personality is that he will help anyone and everyone.

He made IIMS and everyone proud by winning Ashwamedha and I sincerely believe that you deserved it.

Hope we have a rocking time ahead in GS :)

    All d best of luck

  8. I ve once told that if u put this guy in the middle of a desert without anything to support and as long as u don’t shut his mouth he will still come out of it hale and healthy ! Such is the talent of this guy … He can talk his way out of any god damn thing ! The thing I like most about mayur is his never say die attitude .. some ppl say they ve got such an attitude but I ve never seen anyone wit such a strong attitude as Mayur’s.. he will never quit no matter what.. he is confident , full of energy and a shrewd strategist .. I ve always felt he shud go into strategy than HR .. but being the people’s person he is I am sure he will rock in HR too…
Mayur is a pucca executor … me somu and anshu love to talk and give ideas .. but when it comes to implementing them and getting them done , he is the man … always enthusiastic and optimistic he always brings life in to everything he does… except wit me … am sure he ll never help me wit Pooja .. the dog he is – became well suddenly jus to prevent me from dancing wit Pooja.. will never ever forgive him for tat …
It was really good to share a lot of moments with you as a fellow study group member and council member, Mayur .. I need not wish u success as ur bound to achieve some really extraordinary things in life! Have loads n loads f fun !!

  10. Lakhmani jee , before I make any attempt in his shaan there is one word that describes you completely : AWESOME
Mayur is one of such guys that have defied to the logic of gaining maturity with time and the level of understanding that he displays is really
outstanding. He commands the entire batch through the Student Council and at instances gave me a jolt of life when I found him blasting out at the junior batch
during their induction. He is very cooperative and no matter how odd the situation might be , he has the never-say-die attitude in him. Most of the time I
find him to be in such a hurry to submit his answer sheets during the exams that there is a doubt if he has a flight to catch at the end of every exam or he has
some medical complexities. Though I know its neither of the two. :)
A really tough guy who knows how to make his way through. Wish you all the best for your future !

  11. Mayur-one of the most enthusiastic persons I have met in my life. He is game for anything and would never say no if you ask him for any help. I had many long discussions with him especially in first year where we discussed many random stuffs and then ask him to cook maggie for us ;) I am really gonna remember those days always.
He is a great team player and can handle any responsibility with perfection. Badal Shah must hv done lot of philanthropy services that he got such a brilliant HR manager for his organisation ;)
Mayur is extremely popular among the IIM Shillong girls and I dont think there would be any girl in campus with whom he would have not spent hours talking and chatting. Next in line are all girls of Gujurat :P
He is an awesome friend to have and u can always count on him when u need any help. I hope our future business plans work out and we get a chance to work together again after Grop G work.
    All the best :)

  12. Mayur is the most proactive and energetic person in the batch in terms of taking initiatives. His dedication and hard-work has been proved in his achievements several times. He loves his small family as well as the big family (PGP10) equally and always keeps on finding ways to put a smile on others. A gem of a person and a nice friend to come across. Not to forget working with him for B.Comm was indeed a pleasure. Wish u a great success ahead bro. Keep Smiling Always :)

  13. Mayur comes second to no one when it comes to planning and executing, be it picnics or Golf Cup. His skills of ideation and convincing, his hardworking nature and also the ability to get work done have found him a place in the StudC.
During the times spent with him – Cherrapunji picnic, the funny dance, our Footsteps days, planning for juniors’ Footsteps- I have realized that he is one who can bring the whole batch together, can go on speaking about new ideas endlessly unless one is finalized. You are sure to get atleast one mail from him every month owing to his presence in the BComm ! (Great job done there!)
During classes he manages to escape without being caught for his pranks. A Core HR guy he is definitely going to be a successful person sooner than anyone else owing to his skills!
    Good luck! :)

  14. A guy with loads of enthusiasm, you will always find him involved in some or other activity on campus along with Anshu. A fun loving person and a movie buff, there was rarely any movie that he did not watch in movie hall during our stay in Gurgaon. This is one person who would have solutions for all problems.

Well this “Nawab of Lucknow” has great love for egg especially “Egg rolls” and one could easily find him eating them, whether it be the college canteen, Gurgaon market or Park street. You will always find his room full of variety of snacks and surprisingly he had once put up this line on room’s wall –“No food after 10 pm”. Though he followed it religiously initially but very obviously within few days the rule no more existed.

A proper HR guy who didn’t like finance at all, but surprisingly got motivated by a finance professor who called him “Gentleman” to take up finance subjects :P

A very hardworking and a dedicated fellow, he performs all his tasks in a perfect manner. He is a person with true leadership qualities which were made very apparent by the fact that he had organised the trip for the whole batch within 2 weeks in college. “Ashwamedha” was a very well deserved win. He is a great friend who will always be there to help you, he had even donned the hat of a teacher during exams.

I am very sure you will make a great a HR guy…….of course till u decide to turn into an entrepreneur. Best of luck!!!!!!!

  15. If ‘versatility’ was a person, it’d be Mayur. Right from taking care of batch trips, to spearheading the golf cup along with other student council members, he’s never stepped back. Coming from VIT, we became friends very early, and he is one person in the batch who can be as loud as me when it comes to voicing opinions.
A complete store house of energy, he’s done all that an MBA student can do and more. A very sharp mind coupled with an awesome skill at talking himself out of everything, there is a lot to be learnt from him. He believes in giving the best to everything he undertakes and it was evident during the Kopda Cup where he threw himself all over the ground while fielding.
He loves taking the lead in whatever he does and has dedicated himself to HR for the two years he was here. He has a passion for food which is only limited by his appetite and the fact that he’s a vegetarian. A proud Lucknowi, can never hold himself back from boasting about the City of Nawabs. He perfectly symobolises almost every quality a good leader should possess including being popular among the girls.
The day isn’t far when he’s going to be a very famous name.
    Cheers

  16. A storehouse of talent is what Mayur has been. A StudC member, the Ashwamedha winner, and you name it, he is there at one or the other event of our college. A sincere student who loves HR and goes the extra mile to get along with his senior colleagues too. A guide who is greatly admired in the junior batch. I wish him all the very best for his future endeavours.

  17. Mayur- The most popular guy in the first 3 months of college. Arranged batch trips(Was called peocock travels because of that :P) Has the capability to pull off any situation. Never seen him not smiling inspite of lows during interns and placements. Keeps up his confidence. And lives up to it.
Always managed to impress Diro cz of Ashwamedha and student council and Golf. :P Gained too much popularity in PGP11 during Footsteps. All in all strong aura with alot of positive energy.
Believed in whatever he liked. Be it HR(inspite of being the only guy there) or his friends(popularly called 'family'). :D
Stay in touch. You'll be great wherever you go. Good luck! :)

  18. Right from the time I've known Mayur here at IIM-S, I've always wondered at the source of his boundless energy & infinite enthusiasm. The first batch outing was organized by him - he generated consensus among us all regarding a trip to Cherrapunji, did all the leg-work in terms of contacting the travel agents, booking the buses & organising the finer details of the day-long trip, and even kept a track on everyone during the trip. His enthusiasm, organizing skills & sense of responsibility ensured that the trip was a resounding success as we all enjoyed it to no end.

One great thing about Mayur is that he's friendly with everyone in the batch. On one hand his extroverted nature & his bellowing voice ensured that he was one the first few people that everyone in our batch knew, while on the other he's a really decent fellow who shows respect & courtesy to everyone and really strives a lot for the batch - be it during birthday celebrations or for various other activities.

These all qualities essentially point at his people skills, which in turn leaves me in know that he'll attain great heights in the domain of HR. And the fact that HR's are the last word when it comes to recruitment, it would do us as well as our institute to be in good books of this really great guy :)

  19. Writing about Mayur Kumar Lakhmani is one of the toughest things I can be asked to do. But still, I'll try my best. Mayur has a personality as colourful as his name.

First and foremost, he is the best friend one can have. He has been the person whom I could talk to for hours about anything that was troubling me or even sit quietly with, when I didn't know what to say. He has been with me through the best and worst of times and I can only hope that we remain this way....

Over these two years, I got to spend a lot of time with him as a friend, as a fellow Group G member, as a fellow HR enthusiast, a fellow Stud C, usHR, and Team Aadhya member and what not..and in every role, I got to know him better. Mayur loves to take on new initiatives and put in all the effort from his end to see them through. His belief in himself and the passion to succeed are indeed commendable. His sincerity (especially in non-academic activities :P) has been quite evident from the success of our Cherrapunji trip and the numerous other incidents I find difficult to list here. His dedication to celebrate every single birthday in the batch with a renewed vigour and enthusiasm is also well known. Among the little known facts is that Mayur is quite an intelligent student and can give the toppers a tough competition if he wants - his performance in 1st term accounts and the consequent attention of our Prof on Mr Mayur Kumar bears testimony to this fact.. . He loves good food (especially maggi which he wrongly thinks that only he can cook properly) and movies. And haan.. he writes awesome poetry and has managed to become one of my favourite Hindi authors :) Everyone knows about his being a true ladies man; he excels in the art of using his charm effectively!

Mayur’s passion for HR is also well found. He was perhaps the only one among us who had decided about pursuing this domain before he joined IIM S. It was because of his dedication and efforts (and his acting skills which I probably forgot to mention elsewhere) that we were allowed to study the 5 electives possible. Fondly known as the OD practitioner of the batch, he is the true face of HR and usHR here.

A born leader, he has the perfect ability of getting things done just as he wants. His excellent communication and strategizing skills worked their wonders and helped him secure a place among the Ashwamedha Winners Gallery, making us all so proud of him!

Extremely caring and sensitive, Mayur truly lives for his friends. Immediately putting everyone at ease, he needs a bare minimum time to win anybody’s heart. And that’s what happened when I first met him, sitting roll number wise in the accounts test of the induction week. Getting to know 2010PGP034, our unique bond of being proud Jaipurians gave me a chance to relive those wonderful memories of the five years that I spent in Lucknow. Although he is completely different from what I am, he is one of my best friends ever. I guess the phrase 'opposites attract' is valid after all...

Mayur, by scribbling random words here, I guess I have just been trying to say how much your friendship means to me. Although it will not be possible for me to pen down all that I feel, it is a small attempt to say thanks for being there with me throughout... I’m sure that despite all the ups and downs, you will achieve all that you aspire to and fulfil every single one of your dreams. Wish you all the happiness, success and love… :)

  20. The most energetic guy of the batch..to the extent that it becomes contagious..Highly proactive and would be willing to take up any responsibility and give it a perfect finish.. Took a number of initiatives within and outside the purview of council.. He is also a friendly guy and interacts with everyone in the batch...All these qualities coupled with a sharp mind helps him extricate himself from any sort of quandary... Mayur, I am sure you are gonna rock where ever you go and it wouldn't be long before you find yourself in a top notch role.. ATB and Cheers :)

  21. Energetic... Enthusiastic... Enigmatic... These are few words which I believe define you totally ! Zyada achha achha to expect mat karna kyunki wo to maine kabhi kiya nahi :P But I must admit that HR and PGP10 would have been incomplete without you & your efforts :) You are definitely very very gutsy and I admire you for that. HR does need tough fighters like you. :)
Also let me take this opportunity to apologise for entering your room every time at the wrong moment and being a villain in your __ life ;)
Wishing you loads of success everywhere and everytime :)
Keep smiling humesha :) Miss me :P

A perfect CEO Material, I must say…Wishing you a successful and happy life ahead!!

  23. Most energetic and most outgoing person of our batch… I never heard him say no to anything (except studies probably :P)… The best thing about him is his extremely caring nature especially towards his friends… always ready to help others…
One of the person who can make things happen rather than waiting for them to happen … Extremely determined… If he chooses to do something, then he hardly care what others say/think…
Love watching movie in theatres… I remember how he used to go to movie almost everyday during his internship irrespective of the how good/bad that movie is… I doubt how many good theatres are there in Valsad :P
Lesser know fact about Mayur is his love for hindi poetry.. he was one of the member of Hindi Literary Association in VIT and writes excellent hindi poems!!!
He is really a talkative person and can go on for hours. Same goes for his writing skills … I don’t know how lengthy answers he write in exams but yes, his testimonials for his close friends can really prove this point… :)
His inherent quality of winning others heart will make him a great HR and his leadership qualities will surely take him to great heights … Ashwamedha is just a testimony to that!! :)
Wishing u best of luck for all ur endeavors!!

  24. It will be difficult to do justice in expressing my thoughts and feelings towards Mayur, especially after seeing how well he has summed up about my last 2 years at IIM Shillong.. If there was anyone who could have done it so well, it had to be Mayur!! Some of the things which he has written were something which I had never thought about and now seem so true.. It won’t be wrong to say that he knows me more than I know myself :) I remember there being so many situations when I was about to talk about certain things but kept mum about them and Mayur immediately used to say what was going on in my mind… I used to be a little surprised earlier but it actually made my job easy :)…
My interaction with Mayur started off right from the Footsteps days when we were put in the same group for one of our assignments and I knew something right then and there, there is someone like me who is here to have fun (accept for the fact that he was ALSO interested in studying).. On the day of the hoax, when everyone sitting around us in the Audi was tensed about Stud C getting suspended, we were sitting relaxed and enjoying the whole situation :P :P.. And dis was just the staring of what was going to be two fun filled years..Another thing that made us click was our love for eating,,thought both of us had different tastes as he is a pukka vegetarian, but he was always there whenever I wanted company for going out for eating, or even if I wanted to get something to eat from outside, he was always able to find someone!!
Describing Mayur as passionate about anything he does would be an understatement.. He leaves no stone unturned in achieving what he wants, then be it studies (if he wishes to :P), conducting Golf Cup, working for HR club, winning Ashwamedha or sitting on the grill outside Old Girls’ Hostel :P.. Infact, it was his dedication towards HR as a subject and HR as a profession that motivated a highly confused person like me to finally zero down on to what I wanted to do in life.. And I am thankful to him for guiding me in probably what was the best decision of my life..
If I have passed with decent even grades here, I certainly owe it to Mayur as he used to literally make me sit and study so that I could do some bakar the next day in exams… And to make a person like me understand things, it surely required a lot of patience which both Mayur and Neetisha never lost with me ..
Mayur has been more than a friend or a brother to me… I have shared the best and the worst of times with equal ease with him.. Whether it was 9 in the morning or 4 in the night, he was always there to solve the most weird of situations I would land up in.. He has been a mentor who has guided me in whatever I have done, good or bad.. After 2 years here, I do feel that I have grown as a person and it would not have been possible without Mayur.. I just wish that he is successful in whatever he does in life and I am very sure he would a proud owner of a superb restaurant very soon :)

  25. I think most of what I would want to write for Mayur would already have been written. He is my first room-mate in life. Isn't that a big compliment in itself Mayur? :P

He is the guy in whom extraversion is filled in a bit more than extra :P If he has his way, he will never stay alone. The only thing he can do when he is alone is to watch some tv series or sleep. Talking about sleep, I have never seen a person who can remain so youthful with so less sleep. I do not even know when he used to sleep in the first year.

Talking about his leadership qualities, I can only say that I have learnt a lot about leadership just by watching him. The way he plans, organizes and manages various things is undoubtedly superb. I remember him sending the excel file for the expenses after the Cherapunji trip, a thing which was scarcely required yet so powerful to put all doubts at rest.

Sindhis are often known to be extraordinary salesmen. Looking at him, it is not hard to imagine why. But for some unknown reason, Mayur decided to plunge into the unthinkable waters of HR instead of Marketing. His affinity for people of opposite sex is well known, appreciated and documented. Perhaps this alone explains his HR interests. But I am pretty sure, he would have done as well in Finance :P

He has had some extraordinary achievements in his academic life, co-curricular activities and of course His Area of Interest. Its almost certain that by the time he reaches 50, there would be a wall full in his house with medals, trophies and obviously photographs :P

I really treasure Mayur as a friend. He has been there for me for everything I asked for. Be it marking proxy attendance in boring classes or getting a cab booked on the fly, he was always the one to trust. I wish you all the best in your life Mayur. I know you will do good wherever you will go.
