Sehgal or Baba as he is known, is hardworking (selectively chooses the tasks he wants to work hard on :P), perseverant, calm and composed, confident, smart and possesses tremendous people skills. This is a guy who can make anyone work and convince even the most stubborn of people to his point of view. He is logical, thinks for the greater good always and understands how people work- this guy is the perfect Placecommer. I spent most of first year being intimidated and in awe of him, but it is during the internship and in the second year that I really came to know Sehgal. He will pull your leg, be late to classes (he once entered a 9:00 am class at 9:25 with perfect nonchalance) but when you need him; he will be there for you through thick and thin. If you have a friend in him, you are lucky indeed!
I can’t help but mention the amount of bakar he can do. He is known to sleep for the entire class, wake up in between, somehow make a point relevant to the discussion and then go right back to sleep! Of course, his presentations are something many people are going to talk about- let’s dive into the agenda and take a sneak peek into…..he is a guy who once spoke for 5 minutes about the agenda slide! I will always remember how the receptionist at the hotel during Mumbai visit was scared to wake you up, and it took 5 calls from 3 different people to finally get you up for the flight!
An amazing charismatic guy, I have no doubt that Rahul will go places in life! Wish you all the very best dude!
An angry young placecommer, that is what I sometime feel about him and is the only placecommer I am scared of. Really feels good when he addresses me by Neha ji and feels that is the only moment I am not scared of him. But yes, a very responsible, dynamic and hard working person. Wish you all the very best in life.
One of the few place commers, whom I have bugged day in and day out about HR placements. I used to feel much more relieved by passing on my quota of tension to him :P..Strangely, inspite of being in the place comm, he has been able to fare quite well as far as his CGPA was concerned owing to so much of tension that he takes about marks.. But on a serious note, he is one guy whom I have seen giving his best to whatever he does.. be it placements or studies.. He has been successful in lending his human touch to this otherwise very serious and dicey issue of placements :) Way to go Baba!! And you can’t escape from me.. Will continue bugging you at Tata Motors now:)
I am still glad for conversation that we had in March 2011. Baba, a person who can be as professional as possible when handling PPT Sessions, one who is always the first one to start of things, class PPT’s being one. 2 years I don’t know how many classes in common but first person to give intro always in a presentation. One who baths daily with a min an hour time despite classes, meetings or whatever. A person whose room is always full with people, whether mng 5,bakar sessions are always on. Someone who is always texting to god knows whom. Someone whose room is always filled with stuffs to eat from home. Short tempered at times but matured enough to handle any situation. Mumbai Interns was a lot of fun with him being around in the same town. Hope to see you around in Mumbai in near future. Keep that Bakari conversation capability in you alive, it will take you far. All the Best to Tata Motors for handling a person like you. Wishing you lot of success in life. God Bless you
Baba.. the one person who manages to come late for every class.. sleeps rite through the class but yet randomly ask some question that leaves the prof stumped… This guy’s Bakar capabilities are truly mind boggling.. Give him the intro slides and he will prove that to you :P very responsible and hard working ( though acts like not a one).. His confidence and his knack of dealing people are something that awe me.. His mature stance and Nautanki can stump anyone.. All the very best Baba:) :) Cheers :)
The quota of my leg-pulling(everybody knows the topic) wouldn't be complete without Baba's "oho's" and "aye haye's"... A gem of a person, who is damn sincere and puts his heart and soul into whatever he does. Although I haven't interacted much with him and neither did I get a chance to witness his ppts and bakars, but whatever I have known of him, he is a real stud(U know Baba, I keep getting inputs about u from someone :P). Baba, u just rock!! All the very best..
BABA...the Hyderabadi dude who bechara is caught up between Hindi and Telugu and ended up not knwoign both well. Somehow, he manages with an excellent English communication which definitely can be seen during his presentations when he crawls/swims/flows thorugh them :P :P
Well, I became friends with him right during Footsteps. I take great pride in the fact that he was named "BABA" because of the character he played in one of the ice breaker sessions when we were in the same team doing an advertisement for some random toothpaste. I have always known him to be the most awesome guy with the heart of gold. He has a very peculiar sense of doing Bakar and can be caught as soon as he starts on with it.
Baba....You have been a great friend. Though we havent spent a lot of time together in these two years, I definitely cherish whatever talks we had and you will definitely be remembered throughout life. keep rocking :)
This is one guy who deserves all the appreciation in the world, and it would still be less I think. An extremely dedicated placecommer, he would always pacify you and have kind words whenever you are tense. one of the most cordial guys of the batch, can get along with anyone, selfless and humble. The most talented of the lot, this guy has it in him to achieve whatever he wants. your cordial and sweet attitude can take you places Rahul. your enthusiasm and energy baffles me!! Wish you all the success in life mate!! Keep Rocking!!
It has really been great knowing Rahul - the fact that he was my wing-mate for a year and also my study group-mate certainly made my job a lot easier. He might seem a lazy guy who loves skipping classes, or in the off-chance that he decides to attend one, coming to class at least 10 minutes late. But, in essence, he has a great sense of responsibility - whenever I've requested him to take something up as regards to our group work he would take it up willingly & would ensure it got done come what may, and puts in hard work whenever required. And yes, he's a smart & intelligent fellow too. Rahul has also perhaps been the tallest member (literally & figuratively) of arguably the most important committee in our college - the kind of effort he's put in there is for everyone to see.
He's really friendly & easy-going as a person, and with a wicked sense of humour. He has the ability to crack jokes with a deadpan face - something that not many people can master. He also has the terrific ability to speak (read: bakar) on any given topic irrespective of how much he actually prepared for it - a clear indication of his great communication skills, wit & presence of mind. The introductions that he would provide during our group presentations used to be hilarious & absolutely unforgettable - and that's one memory about him I'll always remember with a smile.
And boy does his hate non-veg food - something we found out very early here at IIM-S during one unfortunate trip to Bombay Bites :D
Babaaa...Ab tere liye kya hi likhun mein!!! First reaction : Kya height hai..Baap re!! Second reaction: not bad..looks cute :P (During inauguration seating arrangement ) Forever, the late comer of Section 2.. Forever the agenda slide presenter..He takes people's case with such a straight face that people are bound to get confused.. Highly efficient and self-motivated when it comes to work..Diplomatic to some extent but extremely good at maintaining good relationships with people...Takes part in all extra-curricular activities.. Star batman of my kopda team ;)Somehow manages to get a treat individually from almost he is friends with !! Tells every girl in the batch 'If only you were younger by 2 years.......' :P .. Well Baba, I am not gonna stop hunting down a gal for u cos m sure nobody in our batch would have done a better analysis on you :P :P Dun wry, will make sure she satisfies all your conditions :P .. n Baba its better that some feelings are left unexpressed.. So I am not gonna write how much I have enjoyed with you or what a good friend you are to me :) Wishing you great success and all happiness in life :) Cheers!!
A fellow hyderabadi, I greatly admire Sehgal for his humility and his cheerful outlook towards life. Our journeys to and from Hyderabad have given us a lot of time to have great discussions about hordes of things. Both of us are proud of Hyderabad and have been quick to team up against anyone saying anything untoward about Hyd. We’ve had a constant table tennis feud going on which started during the typhoid week in the first year and has continued till date. I don’t see it ending anytime soon Our internship stint in Mumbai , helped both of us get to know each other a lot better than we had at college and we also ended up watching a lot of pathetic movies spending a load of cash in expensive Mumbai multiplexes. A selective hard worker, he can go wonders if he sets his mind to a task and his skills in giving presentations are legendary. He can get away with almost any presentation without knowing a single word written on the slides. Sehgal is going to climb the corporate ladder very fast and be a top notch leader pretty soon. Cheers!
A true gentleman.Affable. Considerate. Encouraging. More mature and experienced then his age would warrant. Calmness and composure shown by him at testing times is substantial. Respect for you!
Baba as he is fondly called by most of us is among the best placecommers our batch has had :) He would have worked more for placecomm than he would have done for his own study group :P
He's a great guy who flirts with girls for hours together, spends time with his wing mates, does his placecomm work, does his studying and gets good grades finally as well :P He can talk for hours like any placecommer would do but he can talk sense too :)
I never knew baba was so good at 'Dumb Charades' until we went to the river island trip together :P
A true gentleman and he is talented as every telugu guy in our batch seem to be :)
Wish you have a great life ahead and see you around :)
A rare combination of Hyderabad (a place where he was brought up) and Punjab (his motherland) Baba is a full package. Dedicated PlaceCommer, jovial person, knows many a great bargaining tricks, he can present an intro slide for five minutes, can get away with coming more than 10 minutes (or even more…really) late to a class. Diplomatic and understanding he is great his work (though he’s the youngest in PC), his attempts at conversing in Telugu can make any person laugh. A good batsman, TT mein bhi inka jawab nahi, he can lighten up any situation with a banter. He is definitely going to rise the corporate ladder at a great pace! :) Stay in touch.
I can easily recall the day when we all were supposed to gather for the very first time, in our Business Formals and I saw 'Sehgal Saab' all well dressed up, standing outside his room and his parents busy clicking his pics. Dashing personality, he seemed like a corporate honcho standing right at the end of the Wing. His awesome persona struck so much so that I was very glad to have a handshake with him. It occured to me as if I was talking to someone of stature of Bill Gates. He has been handling place comm affairs with much finesse, for the past 2 years and I have seen him the amazing way of his, negotiating with the HR personnel of companies to increase their intake. Trying to attain the balancing act between his Grades and Placements, he has won over so many hearts. I salute you Sehgal Saab for all your dedication and the pain-staking efforts that you have been putting all through this time for all of us. Though I am not officially supposed to make a Vote of Thanks, but would request you to accept Thanks for my side, for all your efforts and hard labour.
Baba- I dont knw where to start and end for this guy. I have known him right from the first week of college(Munna Bhai in the play :P) Later, we just were the best of friends. He has this peculiar way of saying "disguSHting" :P Is confused between Punjabi and Hyderabadi. Has a huge fan following because of his "charismatic" nature and because of the fact that he is a "Hyderabadi". ;) Can't start/complete a sentence without slangs. Laughs till tears in his eyes when with friends and refuses to recognize the same set during company visits. His room is like the central park-People come chit chat till morning. Recently, its more of a gaming station. :P He is an aspiring 9 pointer. :P Studies Strategy and Marketing with his lights off and heater on. Believes that having a bath once in 3 days is a big achievement. Everyone has covered his super presentation skills and bakar skills already :P The only one who has never given a GD or a face to face interview after the IIM Shillong GD/PI. :P Selfless- Really slogged for the whole batch as a placecommer. Congrats for the biggest achievement you've had here. You did a great job! :) Chit chatting over coffee and pasta on the terrace, star gazing, late night walks, fierce fights over Ludo, our lunches, dinners(the sudden ones included :P), trips to all the places, teasing and laughing over nothing, my(never yours) darkest secrets, audi stairs, night canteen, talking till 5 in the morning and not letting you sleep. Ya Baba, am not gonna miss you! :( We better meet very often. Love ya! :)
He’s one of the first persons I knew in our batch… from the senior junior meet. So talented, so sincere, so dedicated, so confident, and so friendly… but even when he passes those sarcastic comments of his, he does it so indifferently, for a second you don’t realize he’s actually making fun of you :P And the way he convinces people about something, you cannot help but believe it! We all had lots of fun in our trips to and from Hyd :) I’ll really miss them… Often heard about his excellent presentation skills from section 2 guys… but never been lucky enough to witness. Rahul, you promised me a repeat performance of the same in one of our common electives, but you never fulfilled it :( :(
Good luck for everything Rahul! Keep Smiling and stay in touch :)
Frankly speaking I don’t like the name ‘Baba’ and I hate to call you by this name. If I had to describe you in a word that would be ‘Awesome’ (Sakshi knows the reason). A tall Punjabi cum Hyderabadi chora, who doesn’t know how to speak Punjabi. :P :P Someone who can’t complete his sentences without using slangs.
My neighbour of second year and we share the same washroom. I shouldn’t say share, as he hardly bathes :P rite Rahul? :P ok he does twice/ thrice a week. An iPad2 owner and has made his room a gaming parlour. Someone who believes in studying with his lights off; hiding from others. Very good at giving bakar like other placecommers and can talk on any random topic.
A dedicated PC’er and who has always helped friend in need; always admire you for this quality. Can always be seen messaging mysterious someone (I guess I know who’s that someone). Were in Mumbai together during Summer Interns, miss our time at Queens Necklace and fun we had in Mumbai.
Stay the way you are, but do tell me about you gal.
First impression…Yes he is such a mature Person!! Sure he does a lot of those irritating sometimes DISHGusting and vaguely pathetic things that a fresher does. But then it is surprising how a person who is just out of college can be so professional..so balanced…so committed. It has been a privilege to share the jubilant and not so happy moments while in the Placecomm but trust me man I enjoyed every bit..also I believe nothing else could have made our days @ IIMS so exciting :)
The hyderabadi boy loves to be tashni in whatever he does..but then he somehow carries it off very well. His room is the ‘addaspace’ of our floor. And no wonder He is the Dairy Milk to my KITCAT girls. He also has a bad habit of flirting with girls who are way older than him…something which he has picked up recently just to jalaofying some people. Called the Mommas boy for following the good boy habits that would make parents sooo proud…except when he lets loose his ‘Maa Ki…’ variants. Still remember haunting his room for some midnight munchies. Also he things people get scared with his clichéd looks and stares; which he keeps practicing from time to time. Nearly missed his messaging to mysterious people…Hope those tests are successful :)
A guy with a wonderful attitude and ‘Can Do…’ spirit I am sure he would scale amazing heights in his career and make his mommy and us proud. Loved every moment of this journey with u..without which it could have been so boring !!
Baba gaa… This is how I’ven calling him from the 1st year. I remember meeting him 1st in Guwahati Airport before reaching shillong for the first time. Everyone in the batch would surely remember him for one thing, He was the one who coined the term ‘Super 93’ on orientation day. Then came the talent show, where he was Munna Bhai and I was Circuit. :D Since then, I have considered him as a very good friend of mine.
On a first impression basis, one may think that he is very formal and professional person. There is no denying that, but on repeated observations, you would surely realise the amount of bakar capabilities and the acting skills he possesses. He is perhaps one of the few persons on earth who can spend full 5 minutes on just intro slides. Very smart and intelligent he is, he can tackle a person with play of words and escape from the situation at times. :P :P Remember this, ‘due to lack of time , the queries would be later taken up by Shubhajit’. :P :P
Dare note mess with him, because he can really humiliate you :P and make you feel you are pathetic big time. He will not shout at you, but he will use such a combination of pinching words that , in the end you realise that you have been insulted, you would be dumbstruck and wondering if you are such a dunce (Obviously he has no such intent whatsoever, he is just playing with you, in case you haven’t realised yet) . Such is his level of convincing power in the way he speaks. :)
Very dedicated and serious when it comes to work, especially Placecomm Work. An intergral part of the committee, undeniably he has done a lot and surely commands a lot of credit and respect for that. Very committed when it comes to acads too, he has this unique way of systematically preparing for exams which I have witnessed in 5th term. A person who strives to achieve perfection in whatever work he does and leaves no room for error, which was very evident when I worked with him for Avalon consulting competition.
Gone are the days when he used to say ‘Ekk Lappad Lagengaa’!! I have have fun taking his case a lot of times and imitating his way of speaking and his mannerisms. Baba ga.. My sincere apologies if you ever felt bad for all of that.. I hope you took them in the right spirit!!
Second year has changed him substantially as a person (Dunno why and how). I hope I see the old Baba again. :P :P Wish you all the very best for your future. Stay in touch :)

All the best bhai and keep rocking !! :-) :-)
ReplyDeleteThe hyderabadi boy loves to be tashni in whatever he does..but then he somehow carries it off very well.
ReplyDeleteOn a first impression basis, one may think that he is very formal and professional person.
