Somjeet, fondly referred to as Somu, is one of the rare guys in your batch who is adept at so many aspects of life@MBA - he is studious but also has loads of fun, he likes aspiring for knowledge (especially the B-School kind) but also loves watching movies & boozing with friends, he has good leadership skills as apparent from his stint with StudC but is also a jovial & friendly, he's a talented & intelligent person but is also grounded & simple, and so much more.
Its always great fun having Somu around. He loves cracking jokes, having fun, laughing aloud, discussing on a variety of things, chatting, and basically having a nice time. He's also a deep-rooted extrovert, who absolutely loves making friends and building contacts - a facet that I'm sure will greatly help in his journey in corporate life. In fact, this ability & aptitude for making new friends will also ensure he's never alone.
In short, he's a shining brand ambassador of the famous quote (or at least famous among us), "Make it large", for one thing is sure, he is going to make it big in life.
Somu is extra-ordinarily brilliant and a dear friend of mine. He keeps himself abreast of all the happenings of B-schools and the market...I am still not able to figure out how he gets so much time to do this. He is quite vocal and won't take a minute to express what is there on his mind. But he is a very hardworking guy and if you happen to do any competition you will get to know his sharpness in every aspect of life. He is very talented in designing the presentations.
He is very passionate about photography. I always enjoyed being in his company as he is fun loving and never that serious types and is a very caring person. I can never forget "BBC" and "kurukshetra" with you where we enjoyed so much. He is just little shy when it comes to gal's. I am pretty sure you will find your lady luck very soon.

My neighbour for entire MBA program, Somjeet is a person who is very kind hearted person but can be quite harsh if you take his words literally. Sabse jyada isi ne mera naam badnaam kiya hai. I owe him (to some extent) to be able to make into Student Council. An avid chicken lover who can have it in every meal. Keeps himself updated with each and everything happening in other b-schools and industry. A dependable, adventurous and fun loving friend who will always there to help you in any situation.
Somjeet - An extremely intelligent student, an excellent photographer and helpful friend...Though he may seem a bit harsh and outspoken (especially if you do not agree with him on something :P), he is quite genuine and simple at heart. His 'inside information' of the going-ons in other B-Schools never fails to amaze you. Somjeet, although you still regret picking up that phone call on the 'ill-fated' morning, I am quite glad that you did, for it gave me the opportunity of getting to know the real you :) I am sure that the future holds some great things for you.. Mera Somu :) :P I wish, I could express myself explicitly, but fearing the Kapil Sibal factor I'll try to keep it simple ;) He is a gem of a person, a perfect b-schooler, perfect bakar master, teddy bear etc. etc. I'll always remember waking him up for the 9am classes in the 1st year ;) His outspokenness (doesn't keeps anything in heart, seedhe bak deta hai :P), his appetite for chicken (once he came up with a rough figure of 50kg/year :) ) will always remain etched in my heart forever. There are several other memorable moments & qualities associated with him, that can't be listed here :) Wish you all the best in future & forget me not (I'll not let you either :P) :)
Somjeet. My neighbour for the last two years. Your friendship has been an awesome experience for me. Others have not left much for me to write. I would always remember your post on Pagalguy before coming to IIM S. There are numerous fond memories that we had together. The setting up of BBC, C- Wing Rightists, Kurukshetra, the bakar sessions. I have always felt that you stayed a step ahead from the rest of the batch, guiding and mentoring everyone.
I have great respect for you as you have always helped others (including me) with all your capacity. You may be harsh to talk to sometimes but you are completely justified in your feelings. The Bluffmaster won almost all competition in which it participated. This guy had 5 different CVs (One each for Finance, Marketing, IT, Strategy and Leadership). The guy who got through in so many competetions. He would be the last person to go to sleep at around 6 in the morning.
I know that you would excel anywhere you would be. Be the person who you are always. Eat as much chicken as you can so that your cheeks become fluffier with every passing day.
Undoubtedly Somjeet Behera is one of the most famous guys in our batch for various reasons ( StudC, Very friendly, Well read, Knowledgeable, Bakar during PPTs, Meaningful class participation etc..). He leaves no stone unturned to produce some high quality end product which I have noticed while working on projects together and more so in various competitions. Very hardworking and can work very fast. Always ready to go out on dinner or lunch. Indeed a true friend, whom you can trust and has always helped me. Thank you so much for that.
Oh yes he gets hyper sometimes for no reason and thinks as if he is a stud..:P:P He He.. I just hope he gets a very nice girl soon.( And if that does not happen atleast some nice collegues in the office.. One of the most talented persons of our batch... Somjeet Behera. Knowing him for 2 years, I can tell you how helpful this guy is. He has always given me the best advice and I always look upto him for guidance. He is a very jolly person and you can always see him laughing. A great lover of food and no chicken is safe when he is around ;) Heard NDTV is in talk with him for next season of 'Syamvar'. Somjeet is one of the most difficult people to describe- in one instant he can be mature and logical and in the next he would lose his cool and scream abuses at the top of his head! He is one of the smartest and most knowledgeable people on campus, and it has always been my regret that I could not work with him for a competition while in IIM Shillong. Awesome at making presentations, Somjeet has aced many competitions and class presentations. This guy is a pleasure to be friends with because come what may; you can be assured that there will be no pretences. Whatever is in his heart, will be told you- sometimes the frankness can be brutal! He can converse on a multitude of topics with ease, and loves watching movies and reading books. Unfortunately though, many of the books are left half way through! He is well read, and puts his points across in a systematic and structured manner (when he wants to). Most of the times though, his arguments are laced with expletives! I will always remember the mails you composed, and how I was given the task of ‘changing the tone’ while keeping the points intact! :P A very passionate guy, I have no doubt that Somjeet will be rich and famous one day!
Somjeet, one of the strongest pillar of Group-J. He will push the group most in completing the task before time. A great Presenter and Saviour in classes. Somu .. is really an interesting character … thanks to stud c we bonded really well… I still remember hw we broke in to THE ROOM … was real fun … not only that but we ve shared a lot of our stories together .. mutually helped each other on a lot of occasions… I ve helped him with some love/relationship gyaan and he has helped me tremendously with his knowledge of alcohol brands… wat to buy for whom and wat not :P always has awed me with the way he wins so many competitions at ease.. he just tat got tat unique knack … a total carefree guy .. and I cud see a huge change in him over these two years .. from f*** him, f*** tat to macha we shud sit and think about this .. my god ! stud c has had a huge influence … but I always liked the “F*** them” somu better and am sure he too wud approve …. Somjeet aka chomu or in one word stud of our batch. This person is truly made for reching pinnacle in hios life. I spent quite a long time with him in first year where we did many competitions and also went to delhi for one of the biggest competition of my life.In second year though I haven't interacted with him much but whenever i need him he was there to help me out. Even during the placement he was the one who always raised my confidence so thanks for that and hoping to receive the same support even after passing out from here.
One more thing he is the first person whom I interacted with before coming here and from my interaction i guessed that this person knowledge about everything is just awseome.Please maintain the same tempo and passion....and i am sure you will be among the stars....one more request you know we both have passion to start our own empire so yaar futurte main kuch karte hain...:):)
I really dont know how to frame this testimonial for Somjeet because maximum of things would be CENSORED. So I would just post the decent stuff here. Whoever is interested i the other parts (Somu's stories, photos and videos can see me personally). Somu is one person you would not want to mess with because he will definitely come back to u an with much greater force and I dont think anybody would want that, SO I took a very early and a good decision, I must say, to be on his side :)
To start with, let me first talk about this guy's knowledge. He is a big fat bank of knowledge. He knows about so many topics under the sun that it is very difficult to argue with him sometimes. Plus, when he gets into any intellectual argument (I will talk about the non-intellectual ones later) he gets that peculiar english tone which he uses to stress his points by giving figures, quotes and references from some place which you wouldnt have heard about and will make sure you shut up after that. Sometimes, I wonder that all these references are not even true :P :P He is a very diligent student, devoted his two years to winning competitions and successfully did so by adding so many points to his CV that one or two pages started seeming less and as a result this guy has 5 different CVs now. he took up Fin, Marketing, IT all with equal enthusiasm and really proved why there are no specializations in IIMs. Surprisingly, he did everything well, be it IB or Sales :) Thats something which not many are capable of.
Somu has all the qualities of becoming a good entrepreneur. He has good ideas, he abuses a lot, he can get work done, he is shrewd, cunning and above all he has the passion in him of becoming big one day. I dont know whether he would become one or not, but if he does, am sure turnovers and CAGR shall know no bounds for his company. He is an excellent marketeer as well, a fact which all of us know. He has the inherent quality in him to sell things and brand them as something real unique, a point well proven by the way he has changed and branded himself after pgp'11 arrived in Shillong :P
We both have been the crime partners in a lot of nonsense activities which we have carried out in the campus. Both of us think alike when it comes to dealing with enemies and have made lots and lots of plans although never executed them. But the planning phases are the ones I would most cherish. He has inspired me a lot in the way I speak. He has helped me increase my vocabulary in a specific field to a very good extent and more than that, he has taught me to use those words in the best possible way so that they create the most impact. Owe it to you dude...seriously !!!
Somu is one guy who appears to be aggressive, tough and the guy who is ready to pick up a fight anytime. But he has a sensitive side too, which is revealed to only a few of his close friends. He may talk about girls a lot, check out FB profiles, comment on photos but when a girl actually comes and talks to him in even a slight friendly manner, you need to have a look on his face. His fluffy round cheeks get red (infact pink) and there is no limits to his blushing. He suddenly becomes the most decent and well behaved boys you can ever meet. Dude, you need to know the girls wont eat you up. He is always worried about getting a girl to marry, but now he is a little less scared after I created his profile on Oriya matrimony, which gets approx. 100 views on an average everyday from Oriya girls all over the country.
Whenever I hear the word NETWORKING, only thing I could relate to is Somjeet. This guy has the most awesome network you can ever have. I can bet on the fact that after 15 years, his phonebook will contain personal numbers of atleast 300 CXOs. What goes in and out of any top 20 B-school of India, this guy knows it. His favourite one being XIMB, where I think everyone from security guard to students, exchange participants, faculty and even the Director knows him by name. He is totally pagal for pagalguy and is a chalta firta B-school news site.
His main interests are photography, bird watching (both the kinds ;)) and kite flying (especially the kati patangs :P ). He is really passionate about photography and is an excellent photographer especially when it comes to insects. Because of this hobby, he is usually the not present in the group photos. Other is Bird Watching, an avid lover of birds, he stalks through all kinds of forests and places to see birds and even makes adequate use of social media for the same purpose ;) ;)
I respect him a lot for many many things and have always tried to make a little changes in his personality so that he gets the same respect he deserves from others too. A really fun-loving person, takes tension a lot (so much so that ki after he getting placed he started worrying about me because I wasn't thinking about it). He loves getting involved in fights and taking digs at people. Needs to improve upon some habits which I am sure he knows because of my continuous pestering. Bhai...you are the real DUDE....I am very sure both of us have a lot many mischiefs to do together...Keep rocking !!!
The first person whom I had seen after landing here in IIM Shillong.. And there he had come with so many guards escorting him.. Seemed like a VIP entry :P… And he was no less than one ;).. Probably the only person whose terror still looms in the junior batch.. People who haven’t interacted with him much wouldn’t know that there is a sweet and childlike personality behind the rugged one that he portrays to everyone.. And for a chicken lover that he is, have all respect for him!! :):) His analytical and leadership skills will make him do wonders wherever he goes!! Chweet Chomu! :) He is the bubbly, high IQ leader of our batch. This guy has got amazing talent. And more so, he is excellent at making use of his talent. I have no idea from where he gets all those details, but, he speaks about anything in the MBA world with extra-ordinary ease. An avid quizzer and photographer, he is good at whatever he does. When I look around PGP10, I see a lot of talent, a lot. But, this talented guy is quite different. He also likes to get his hands dirty. The way even his voice failed to come out after Golf cup is a testimony in itself.
He is someone I really admire. Whenever, he presents something, there is something special to it. He just doesn’t come out as ordinary, ever. He loves to party and is a great company to have. His playlist of songs, I love. He is very good at networking and can get along with anybody. Speaks his heart out, often going against popular opinion, but is still loved for that. He is someone who can get away with going against popular opinion because of the sound logic he has in support of his position. A fellow e-cell member, he is passionate about starting off his own venture and I hope to read about him in TIME magazine/Forbes someday.
Chomu, you are someone I really admire and wherever you go, you ll shine and make us all proud. I don’t have any doubt in that. Keep in touch!
Somjeet my neighbour in first year; he is a guy with great determination and will. Once he sets his focus on something he just goes and gets it. Damn man; aisa kaunsa competition hai jo iss ne nai crack kiya.. super phodu dude in this regard. Now once I am done with things that all know in the batch, now I come to the lighter part of Somu(though he by no means looks light). 1)Rishi and Chomu Baby (as called by Rishi) are very good friends (I hope u guys understand). 2)Chomu’s music playlist suddenly became very interesting whenever any girl used to visit our wing. 3)Somjeet is a great dancer after he is few pegs down (must watch :-))

Chomuu.. The aggressive stud. Highly talented and very emotional. A great photographer. As a co member of e-cell it was fun working with him. He has lots of feathers to his cap including conducting of golf cup, winning competitions and making some of the best marketing presentations. Very firm on decisions and implements them very successfully. He is one of my best friends here with whom I can share many things (Old monk not excluded). He loves to read anything under the sun. One of very rare guys, who can excel in anything, let it be finance, marketing or IT. A great party lover and social networker. A great dreamer, who wish to achieve great heights in life. Somjeet is one of the most well-rounded MBAs that I have met – he combines eclectic business knowledge with hard work and charisma that floors whole groups at once. Group J presentations have always seemed better put together due to his input and his way of pronouncing “this and that” is one more reason I am glued to him presentations. That we have never interacted out of the group context is more proof of his professionalism than a reflection of his character. When I think of Somjeet, the first thing that comes to my mind is booze and the next thing is sheer hard work and dedication....if he takes something up be it an ordinary case presentation or a b-school competition...he would put in an unthinkable amount of effort and come up with something remarkable and perfect...i would never forget Arvind Eye Hospital, a case from MM-2 for which Somjeet made a 50+ slide ppt with more analysis that even the Prof or for that matter anyone could think of.....he has tremendous passion for b-schools, companies, competitions and his "hardcore pagal" rating in pg is a testimony to this...with his passion and hardwork, he would surely achieve great heights in life... Somjeet is a fun-loving and very interesting character of the batch. This guy will surprise you each time with his work. Probably the most chubbiest of all and also very much sensitive. Chomuu can do wonders in whatever he takes because he views anything from all together a different lens. His though-process if far-fetching and his ambitions very high. This guy has a very strong appetite- for food as well as risks in life. Is is always fun to interact with him and listen him talking in Hindi with Oriya accent. My fellow E-Cell mate- we planned a loads of things together though some couldn't be materialize with us being in the e-cell. But I am sure all those plans will definitely be executed in the coming future. Somjeet is a synonym for passion, hard-work, intelligence, dedication and foods not to forget(chickens/fish). Somjeet lives a carefree life on the outside, but on delving closer, you realise the utmost dedication he brings to whatever he does. He’s been a ‘Master of all trades, Jack of none’ excelling in everything he chose to do. He’s been my quizzing partner on many a occasion for the online quizzes as well as hosting quizzes during our PDP, I still hope we somehow qualify for the Tata Crucible. He’s incredibly well read, has an astute knowledge about business history and is great to talk to. Not one to shy away from conflicts, he can be extremely short tempered and give everyone a piece of his mind, before returning back to normal the very next minute. He has a pretty loose mouth and often finds it difficult to control in front of the opposite sex, not that he cares either. An envious track record in B-School competitions, his and Payal’s VEET case ppt was perhaps the best I’ve seen in 2 years of my MBA here. The awesome thing about him is that he’s done similar outstanding work for other domains be it Finance, or Business Plans, or quizzes or Social Entrepreneurship events. That is something unbeatable, and no one in the batch can boast of such a brilliant record. A vociferous Stud C member, always fighting for the right cause, he can be extremely blunt about his thoughts. There are new things you’ll discover about this guy every time you spend time with him. I’m hoping I get to see much more of him because we’ll be working for the same company. I humbly bow down to your dedication, even an ounce of it , and I’m sure I’ll do wonders! Cheers!
I would never be able to match the length of his writings! But I’ll try my best to be as expressive as I can here :P Somjeet is one of the few guys in the batch who has irritated me the most by greeting me time and again as partner-director (going beyond the normal addressing as ‘Consultant’) after Deloitte happened. But all the entertainment we had in the process will be reminisced for ever!! “The mess” is our favourite meeting place :) Somjeet, I donno if I’ll ever even come close to the position of the coveted “partner-director” (I don’t have such high ambitions also :P) But if I do become, you’ll be the first one I would treat! :)
Somjeet is one witty, confident, fun-loving, creative and talented… sry multi-talented guy!! He has the ability to handle multiple jobs at a time. There’s one permanent job and a temporary job which everyone would be aware of… And then there’s also this time-pass job (providing guidance to future IIMites – with all due apologies for disclosing your secret plans on public forums! :P) He has an awesome sense of humour; all his jokes in the mess and while playing TT (jokes mainly targeted to distract the opponents from the play and gain a point in the process) will never be forgotten. He has a solution for every situation – “solution oriented” manager :) His openness and frankness will always be respected. He has got many leadership qualities which are going to ensure his success in every sphere of life! A great friend and an awesome company to have! Keep smiling and spreading the happiness :)
The King of good times :) he sure knows how to party. One of the most coolest guy I ve met and the rock solid foundation of Group J. It was awesome working with you and the reason our group managed to do as well as it did. The last minute scrambles to complete the projects, assignments, the group bakars, the leg pulling sessions are always etched in my memory. I had an amazing experience with our study group and probably learnt as much from u as I did from the profs :D.
Somjeet is one of the rare breeds who can go to any lengths to help his friends. I remember telling him how I was feeling a bit low that I dint get an internship and he told me spontaneously “ Don’t worry macha, I know people in CL. We can get an internship certificate from there “. That’s the kind of confidence boost which “chommu” gives. My fellow team mate in Kopda 1 “The Shane s” ,Somjeet has a kind of lazy Inzamam like approach but can hit the ball with ferocious power. The three sixes u hit off Amrit’s pace bowling was a treat to watch.
Somjeet has an amazing database in his mind and he can come up with facts and trivia in a jiffy. Be it the competitions or assignments, the way he does his research is impeccable. Even when we don’t have an idea of what has to be done, Somjeet would have gone through 20 papers and sent us the best papers from where we can make the ppts. Such is the commitment of this guy. A no-nonsense guy and a member of the APEX body of IIM Shillong, Somjeet has the aura to become one of the leading entrepreneurs in the coming years. And I’m sure he ll go places. He is a man with many facets. The first conversation I had with this guy, we talked about the other B school we both had gotten through and pros and cons of entering each. End of the day, he convinced me that IIM S was the better choice. Well Buddy, _|_ for that! Next time, he was telling me about his love for movies and all things NICE (read the 3B’s - babes, Booze and bash) . Its only when I finally came to college did I realise that this intelligent guy from KIIT and TCS is one of the best marketers we have in the batch. His presentation skills combined with his intelligence make a deadly combo. He has a great network of friends and keeps up to date with happenings across all B schools. He has also won numerous B school competitions which is perhaps a testament to his skills. A true Odia who loves food and Odia music, he always makes sure that the spirit of college lives among us in this world of professionalism. He has also helped me in preparing both knowledge wise as well as mentally for final placements and I owe him a big thanks for that. Somjeet is among the best people in the college be in terms of studies, B-School competitions, eating (mostly chicken & it doesn't matter if their's bird flu), drinking and his latest hobby photography.
I was fortunate to work along with him in many competitions across domains be it marketing, strategy, some fin, etc. I am not sure how much I will remember other things at IIM S, but for sure I will remember each and every competition I have done along with him. He is both intelligent & hard-working and is very good at solving cases.
Other than competition, we share a common habit of discussing about other B-school happenings. He is well connected with people in other B-school. I guess he has friends in all top 20 B schools except a few.
Somjeet has been a close friend for these two years and I had a great time both working and taking to him. There is no doubt that he will succeed in his life.

My neighbour for entire MBA program, Somjeet is a person who is very kind hearted person but can be quite harsh if you take his words literally. Sabse jyada isi ne mera naam badnaam kiya hai. I owe him (to some extent) to be able to make into Student Council. An avid chicken lover who can have it in every meal. Keeps himself updated with each and everything happening in other b-schools and industry.

Somjeet - An extremely intelligent student, an excellent photographer and helpful friend...Though he may seem a bit harsh and outspoken (especially if you do not agree with him on something :P), he is quite genuine and simple at heart. His 'inside information' of the going-ons in other B-Schools never fails to amaze you. Somjeet, although you still regret picking up that phone call on the 'ill-fated' morning, I am quite glad that you did, for it gave me the opportunity of getting to know the real you :)

He is a gem of a person, a perfect b-schooler, perfect bakar master, teddy bear etc. etc. I'll always remember waking him up for the 9am classes in the 1st year ;) His outspokenness (doesn't keeps anything in heart, seedhe bak deta hai :P), his appetite for chicken (once he came up with a rough figure of 50kg/year :) ) will always remain etched in my heart forever.
There are several other memorable moments & qualities associated with him, that can't be listed here :)

Somjeet. My neighbour for the last two years. Your friendship has been an awesome experience for me. Others have not left much for me to write. I would always remember your post on Pagalguy before coming to IIM S. There are numerous fond memories that we had together. The setting up of BBC, C- Wing Rightists, Kurukshetra, the bakar sessions. I have always felt that you stayed a step ahead from the rest of the batch, guiding and mentoring everyone.
ReplyDeleteI have great respect for you as you have always helped others (including me) with all your capacity. You may be harsh to talk to sometimes but you are completely justified in your feelings. The Bluffmaster won almost all competition in which it participated. This guy had 5 different CVs (One each for Finance, Marketing, IT, Strategy and Leadership). The guy who got through in so many competetions. He would be the last person to go to sleep at around 6 in the morning.
I know that you would excel anywhere you would be. Be the person who you are always. Eat as much chicken as you can so that your cheeks become fluffier with every passing day.
Undoubtedly Somjeet Behera is one of the most famous guys in our batch for various reasons ( StudC, Very friendly, Well read, Knowledgeable, Bakar during PPTs, Meaningful class participation etc..). He leaves no stone unturned to produce some high quality end product which I have noticed while working on projects together and more so in various competitions. Very hardworking and can work very fast. Always ready to go out on dinner or lunch. Indeed a true friend, whom you can trust and has always helped me. Thank you so much for that.

One of the most talented persons of our batch... Somjeet Behera. Knowing him for 2 years, I can tell you how helpful this guy is. He has always given me the best advice and I always look upto him for guidance. He is a very jolly person and you can always see him laughing. A great lover of food and no chicken is safe when he is around ;)

Somjeet is one of the most difficult people to describe- in one instant he can be mature and logical and in the next he would lose his cool and scream abuses at the top of his head! He is one of the smartest and most knowledgeable people on campus, and it has always been my regret that I could not work with him for a competition while in IIM Shillong. Awesome at making presentations, Somjeet has aced many competitions and class presentations.
ReplyDeleteThis guy is a pleasure to be friends with because come what may; you can be assured that there will be no pretences. Whatever is in his heart, will be told you- sometimes the frankness can be brutal! He can converse on a multitude of topics with ease, and loves watching movies and reading books. Unfortunately though, many of the books are left half way through! He is well read, and puts his points across in a systematic and structured manner (when he wants to). Most of the times though, his arguments are laced with expletives! I will always remember the mails you composed, and how I was given the task of ‘changing the tone’ while keeping the points intact! :P A very passionate guy, I have no doubt that Somjeet will be rich and famous one day!
Somjeet, one of the strongest pillar of Group-J. He will push the group most in completing the task before time. A great Presenter and Saviour in classes. He is very clear as to what he wants to achieve. I will not be shocked to see him becoming a great entrepreneur in near future.

Somu .. is really an interesting character … thanks to stud c we bonded really well… I still remember hw we broke in to THE ROOM … was real fun … not only that but we ve shared a lot of our stories together .. mutually helped each other on a lot of occasions… I ve helped him with some love/relationship gyaan and he has helped me tremendously with his knowledge of alcohol brands… wat to buy for whom and wat not :P always has awed me with the way he wins so many competitions at ease.. he just tat got tat unique knack … a total carefree guy .. and I cud see a huge change in him over these two years .. from f*** him, f*** tat to macha we shud sit and think about this .. my god ! stud c has had a huge influence … but I always liked the “F*** them” somu better and am sure he too wud approve ….

Somjeet aka chomu or in one word stud of our batch. This person is truly made for reching pinnacle in hios life. I spent quite a long time with him in first year where we did many competitions and also went to delhi for one of the biggest competition of my life.In second year though I haven't interacted with him much but whenever i need him he was there to help me out. Even during the placement he was the one who always raised my confidence so thanks for that and hoping to receive the same support even after passing out from here.

I really dont know how to frame this testimonial for Somjeet because maximum of things would be CENSORED. So I would just post the decent stuff here. Whoever is interested i the other parts (Somu's stories, photos and videos can see me personally). Somu is one person you would not want to mess with because he will definitely come back to u an with much greater force and I dont think anybody would want that, SO I took a very early and a good decision, I must say, to be on his side :)
ReplyDeleteTo start with, let me first talk about this guy's knowledge. He is a big fat bank of knowledge. He knows about so many topics under the sun that it is very difficult to argue with him sometimes. Plus, when he gets into any intellectual argument (I will talk about the non-intellectual ones later) he gets that peculiar english tone which he uses to stress his points by giving figures, quotes and references from some place which you wouldnt have heard about and will make sure you shut up after that. Sometimes, I wonder that all these references are not even true :P :P
He is a very diligent student, devoted his two years to winning competitions and successfully did so by adding so many points to his CV that one or two pages started seeming less and as a result this guy has 5 different CVs now. he took up Fin, Marketing, IT all with equal enthusiasm and really proved why there are no specializations in IIMs. Surprisingly, he did everything well, be it IB or Sales :) Thats something which not many are capable of.
Somu has all the qualities of becoming a good entrepreneur. He has good ideas, he abuses a lot, he can get work done, he is shrewd, cunning and above all he has the passion in him of becoming big one day. I dont know whether he would become one or not, but if he does, am sure turnovers and CAGR shall know no bounds for his company. He is an excellent marketeer as well, a fact which all of us know. He has the inherent quality in him to sell things and brand them as something real unique, a point well proven by the way he has changed and branded himself after pgp'11 arrived in Shillong :P
We both have been the crime partners in a lot of nonsense activities which we have carried out in the campus. Both of us think alike when it comes to dealing with enemies and have made lots and lots of plans although never executed them. But the planning phases are the ones I would most cherish. He has inspired me a lot in the way I speak. He has helped me increase my vocabulary in a specific field to a very good extent and more than that, he has taught me to use those words in the best possible way so that they create the most impact. Owe it to you dude...seriously !!!
Somu is one guy who appears to be aggressive, tough and the guy who is ready to pick up a fight anytime. But he has a sensitive side too, which is revealed to only a few of his close friends. He may talk about girls a lot, check out FB profiles, comment on photos but when a girl actually comes and talks to him in even a slight friendly manner, you need to have a look on his face. His fluffy round cheeks get red (infact pink) and there is no limits to his blushing. He suddenly becomes the most decent and well behaved boys you can ever meet. Dude, you need to know the girls wont eat you up. He is always worried about getting a girl to marry, but now he is a little less scared after I created his profile on Oriya matrimony, which gets approx. 100 views on an average everyday from Oriya girls all over the country.

ReplyDeleteWhenever I hear the word NETWORKING, only thing I could relate to is Somjeet. This guy has the most awesome network you can ever have. I can bet on the fact that after 15 years, his phonebook will contain personal numbers of atleast 300 CXOs. What goes in and out of any top 20 B-school of India, this guy knows it. His favourite one being XIMB, where I think everyone from security guard to students, exchange participants, faculty and even the Director knows him by name. He is totally pagal for pagalguy and is a chalta firta B-school news site.
His main interests are photography, bird watching (both the kinds ;)) and kite flying (especially the kati patangs :P ). He is really passionate about photography and is an excellent photographer especially when it comes to insects. Because of this hobby, he is usually the not present in the group photos. Other is Bird Watching, an avid lover of birds, he stalks through all kinds of forests and places to see birds and even makes adequate use of social media for the same purpose ;) ;)
I respect him a lot for many many things and have always tried to make a little changes in his personality so that he gets the same respect he deserves from others too. A really fun-loving person, takes tension a lot (so much so that ki after he getting placed he started worrying about me because I wasn't thinking about it). He loves getting involved in fights and taking digs at people. Needs to improve upon some habits which I am sure he knows because of my continuous pestering. Bhai...you are the real DUDE....I am very sure both of us have a lot many mischiefs to do together...Keep rocking !!!
The first person whom I had seen after landing here in IIM Shillong.. And there he had come with so many guards escorting him.. Seemed like a VIP entry :P… And he was no less than one ;).. Probably the only person whose terror still looms in the junior batch.. People who haven’t interacted with him much wouldn’t know that there is a sweet and childlike personality behind the rugged one that he portrays to everyone.. And for a chicken lover that he is, have all respect for him!! :):)

Chweet Chomu! :) He is the bubbly, high IQ leader of our batch. This guy has got amazing talent. And more so, he is excellent at making use of his talent. I have no idea from where he gets all those details, but, he speaks about anything in the MBA world with extra-ordinary ease. An avid quizzer and photographer, he is good at whatever he does. When I look around PGP10, I see a lot of talent, a lot. But, this talented guy is quite different. He also likes to get his hands dirty. The way even his voice failed to come out after Golf cup is a testimony in itself.
ReplyDeleteHe is someone I really admire. Whenever, he presents something, there is something special to it. He just doesn’t come out as ordinary, ever. He loves to party and is a great company to have. His playlist of songs, I love. He is very good at networking and can get along with anybody. Speaks his heart out, often going against popular opinion, but is still loved for that. He is someone who can get away with going against popular opinion because of the sound logic he has in support of his position. A fellow e-cell member, he is passionate about starting off his own venture and I hope to read about him in TIME magazine/Forbes someday.
Chomu, you are someone I really admire and wherever you go, you ll shine and make us all proud. I don’t have any doubt in that. Keep in touch!

1)Rishi and Chomu Baby (as called by Rishi) are very good friends (I hope u guys understand).
2)Chomu’s music playlist suddenly became very interesting whenever any girl used to visit our wing.
3)Somjeet is a great dancer after he is few pegs down (must watch :-))

ReplyDeleteAs a co member of e-cell it was fun working with him. He has lots of feathers to his cap including conducting of golf cup, winning competitions and making some of the best marketing presentations. Very firm on decisions and implements them very successfully.
He is one of my best friends here with whom I can share many things (Old monk not excluded). He loves to read anything under the sun. One of very rare guys, who can excel in anything, let it be finance, marketing or IT. A great party lover and social networker. A great dreamer, who wish to achieve great heights in life.

ReplyDeleteSomjeet is one of the most well-rounded MBAs that I have met – he combines eclectic business knowledge with hard work and charisma that floors whole groups at once. Group J presentations have always seemed better put together due to his input and his way of pronouncing “this and that” is one more reason I am glued to him presentations. That we have never interacted out of the group context is more proof of his professionalism than a reflection of his character. When I think of Somjeet, the first thing that comes to my mind is booze and the next thing is sheer hard work and dedication....if he takes something up be it an ordinary case presentation or a b-school competition...he would put in an unthinkable amount of effort and come up with something remarkable and perfect...i would never forget Arvind Eye Hospital, a case from MM-2 for which Somjeet made a 50+ slide ppt with more analysis that even the Prof or for that matter anyone could think of.....he has tremendous passion for b-schools, companies, competitions and his "hardcore pagal" rating in pg is a testimony to this...with his passion and hardwork, he would surely achieve great heights in life...

Somjeet is a fun-loving and very interesting character of the batch. This guy will surprise you each time with his work. Probably the most chubbiest of all and also very much sensitive. Chomuu can do wonders in whatever he takes because he views anything from all together a different lens. His though-process if far-fetching and his ambitions very high. This guy has a very strong appetite- for food as well as risks in life. Is is always fun to interact with him and listen him talking in Hindi with Oriya accent. My fellow E-Cell mate- we planned a loads of things together though some couldn't be materialize with us being in the e-cell. But I am sure all those plans will definitely be executed in the coming future. Somjeet is a synonym for passion, hard-work, intelligence, dedication and foods not to forget(chickens/fish). ReplyDeleteHe’s been my quizzing partner on many a occasion for the online quizzes as well as hosting quizzes during our PDP, I still hope we somehow qualify for the Tata Crucible. He’s incredibly well read, has an astute knowledge about business history and is great to talk to.
Not one to shy away from conflicts, he can be extremely short tempered and give everyone a piece of his mind, before returning back to normal the very next minute. He has a pretty loose mouth and often finds it difficult to control in front of the opposite sex, not that he cares either.
An envious track record in B-School competitions, his and Payal’s VEET case ppt was perhaps the best I’ve seen in 2 years of my MBA here. The awesome thing about him is that he’s done similar outstanding work for other domains be it Finance, or Business Plans, or quizzes or Social Entrepreneurship events. That is something unbeatable, and no one in the batch can boast of such a brilliant record.
A vociferous Stud C member, always fighting for the right cause, he can be extremely blunt about his thoughts. There are new things you’ll discover about this guy every time you spend time with him.
I’m hoping I get to see much more of him because we’ll be working for the same company.

I would never be able to match the length of his writings! But I’ll try my best to be as expressive as I can here :P Somjeet is one of the few guys in the batch who has irritated me the most by greeting me time and again as partner-director (going beyond the normal addressing as ‘Consultant’) after Deloitte happened. But all the entertainment we had in the process will be reminisced for ever!! “The mess” is our favourite meeting place :) Somjeet, I donno if I’ll ever even come close to the position of the coveted “partner-director” (I don’t have such high ambitions also :P) But if I do become, you’ll be the first one I would treat! :)
ReplyDeleteSomjeet is one witty, confident, fun-loving, creative and talented… sry multi-talented guy!! He has the ability to handle multiple jobs at a time. There’s one permanent job and a temporary job which everyone would be aware of… And then there’s also this time-pass job (providing guidance to future IIMites – with all due apologies for disclosing your secret plans on public forums! :P) He has an awesome sense of humour; all his jokes in the mess and while playing TT (jokes mainly targeted to distract the opponents from the play and gain a point in the process) will never be forgotten. He has a solution for every situation – “solution oriented” manager :) His openness and frankness will always be respected. He has got many leadership qualities which are going to ensure his success in every sphere of life! A great friend and an awesome company to have! Keep smiling and spreading the happiness :)
The King of good times :) he sure knows how to party. One of the most coolest guy I ve met and the rock solid foundation of Group J. It was awesome working with you and the reason our group managed to do as well as it did. The last minute scrambles to complete the projects, assignments, the group bakars, the leg pulling sessions are always etched in my memory. I had an amazing experience with our study group and probably learnt as much from u as I did from the profs :D.
ReplyDeleteSomjeet is one of the rare breeds who can go to any lengths to help his friends. I remember telling him how I was feeling a bit low that I dint get an internship and he told me spontaneously “ Don’t worry macha, I know people in CL. We can get an internship certificate from there “. That’s the kind of confidence boost which “chommu” gives. My fellow team mate in Kopda 1 “The Shane s” ,Somjeet has a kind of lazy Inzamam like approach but can hit the ball with ferocious power. The three sixes u hit off Amrit’s pace bowling was a treat to watch.
Somjeet has an amazing database in his mind and he can come up with facts and trivia in a jiffy. Be it the competitions or assignments, the way he does his research is impeccable. Even when we don’t have an idea of what has to be done, Somjeet would have gone through 20 papers and sent us the best papers from where we can make the ppts. Such is the commitment of this guy. A no-nonsense guy and a member of the APEX body of IIM Shillong, Somjeet has the aura to become one of the leading entrepreneurs in the coming years. And I’m sure he ll go places. He is a man with many facets. The first conversation I had with this guy, we talked about the other B school we both had gotten through and pros and cons of entering each. End of the day, he convinced me that IIM S was the better choice. Well Buddy, _|_ for that! Next time, he was telling me about his love for movies and all things NICE (read the 3B’s - babes, Booze and bash) . Its only when I finally came to college did I realise that this intelligent guy from KIIT and TCS is one of the best marketers we have in the batch. His presentation skills combined with his intelligence make a deadly combo. He has a great network of friends and keeps up to date with happenings across all B schools. He has also won numerous B school competitions which is perhaps a testament to his skills.

Somjeet is among the best people in the college be in terms of studies, B-School competitions, eating (mostly chicken & it doesn't matter if their's bird flu), drinking and his latest hobby photography.
ReplyDeleteI was fortunate to work along with him in many competitions across domains be it marketing, strategy, some fin, etc. I am not sure how much I will remember other things at IIM S, but for sure I will remember each and every competition I have done along with him. He is both intelligent & hard-working and is very good at solving cases.
Other than competition, we share a common habit of discussing about other B-school happenings. He is well connected with people in other B-school. I guess he has friends in all top 20 B schools except a few.
Somjeet has been a close friend for these two years and I had a great time both working and taking to him. There is no doubt that he will succeed in his life.

Somjeet is one of the most straightforward, Jovial and frank people in the campus. He is one who speaks his mind. He is also among the most sympathetic guys. These qualities have made him a great StudC member. He has also been a good friend. I shall always remember the kaziranga trip as well as the sales management roleplays that we did as a group (His role of 'Someshwar babu' displayed his acting talent as well).
